Are you searching for Laylat al-Qadr, the Night of Power?
This night is better than a thousand months (Surah Al-Qadr) let’s explore 7 hints from the Qur’an, Hadith, and modern research.

The Revelation of Surah Al-Qadr: The Night of Power
It is narrated from Mujahid (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ mentioned a man from Bani Isra’il who worshipped Allah for a thousand months without stopping, praying, fasting, and striving in His path.
The companions were amazed and wondered, “How could we ever achieve such devotion?
Then Allah revealed: “Indeed, We sent it [the Qur’an] down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what the Night of Decree is? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.”

83 Years of Worship in a Single Night—Truly Miraculous
According to scholars, a thousand months is over 83 years and 4 months, so one night of sincere worship on Laylat al-Qadr is worth more than an entire lifetime of dedication.
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever spends this night in faith and sincerity, staying awake in worship, Allah forgives all their past minor sins.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari 1901; Sahih Muslim 759)
Laylat al-Qadr Meaning
The Night of Power – when Allah’s mercy and favor are at their peak, and acts of worship in just one night carry infinite reward.
The Night of Decree – Allah assigns provisions and opportunities for the year on this night, even though our destinies are already written in the Divine Tablet (Lawh al-Mahfuz). 👉 Check out this blog for more.
The Best Way to Visualize It
The Preserved Tablet (Lawh al-Mahfuz) = the complete master plan, fixed forever.
Laylat al-Qadr = the annual schedule for this year is delivered to the angels.
The main decisions are already set, but on this night, the yearly decree is put into action.
Is the 27th Night Really Laylat al-Qadr?
While scholars differ, most agree that Laylat al-Qadr falls on the 27th night of Ramadan.
As narrated by Hazrat Ubayy ibn Ka ‘b (RA): "The 27th night of Ramadan is Laylat al-Qadr."
(Sahih Muslim 762)
However, the night may sometimes fall on any of the odd nights between the 21st, 23rd, 25th, and 29th of Ramadan.
The Night of Destiny: When the Qur’an Was First Revealed
On the Night of Destiny, Allah sent the Qur’an from the Preserved Tablet, starting its gradual revelation to the Prophet ﷺ over 23 years.
(Tafsir al-Sawi, vol. 6, p. 2398)
The Prophet ﷺ also said, “Allah gave my Ummah Laylat al-Qadr, and this night was not given to any nation before you.”
(Al-Firdaws bi Ma’thur al-Khittab, vol. 1, p. 173, Hadith 647)
Now that we understand the miraculous nature of this night, let’s explore 7 signs that indicate its arrival.

Why Laylat al-Qadr Is Hidden: A Deeper Spiritual Wisdom
The Beloved Prophet ﷺ said, “I came out to inform you about Laylat al-Qadr, but two people were arguing with each other, so its exact date was lifted. Now seek Laylat al-Qadr in the odd nights. Perhaps this is better for you.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari 2023)
The renowned scholar Imam Fakhr al‑Din al‑Razi explains that Allah concealed the specific time for several deep spiritual reasons.
Sparks Hope and Mindful Worship
Not knowing the precise day of Laylat al-Qadr inspires hope: “Maybe tonight is the one!” It turns curiosity into self-awareness, not disagreement, just as the Hadith of the two men reminds us to seek Heavenly gifts rather than argue.
Divine Rewards for Those Who Truly Seek — Angels Pray for You
As mentioned in Surah Al-Qadr (verse 5), the night is filled with peace until the break of dawn.
Hazrat Anas ibn Malik (RA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“When Laylat al-Qadr arrives, Jibreel (peace be upon him) descends with a group of angels, and they supplicate for every servant who is standing or sitting and remembering Allah.”
(Shuʿab al-Iman, al-Bab al-Thalith wa al-Ishrun min Shuʿab al-Iman, fi Laylat al-‘Eid wa Yawmiha,
3/343, Hadith: 3717)
Every Act of Worship Matters
Since the exact night isn’t known, every bit of prayer, reflection, and worship during these nights counts. The act of trying, staying consistent, and focusing on goodness brings its own blessing.
Hidden Blessings Encourage Consistent Good Deeds
Allah keeps some things hidden for a reason because He knows what we cannot see. Such as
Allah’s pleasure is found within acts of obedience.
His wrath is veiled within wrongdoing. 💠 See the story of Qarun (Korah) as an example, who refused to pay zakat and was eventually destroyed by his arrogance.
His beloved friends (Awliya) live quietly among people.
Prayers hold the key to having our Dua’s answered.
The Greatest Name of Allah (Ism-e-A‘zam) is hidden among His names.
The middle prayer (Salat al-Wusta) is hidden among the daily prayers. According to Bukhari (6396), it specifically refers to the Asr prayer.
The acceptance of repentance is hidden.
The time of death is known only to Allah.
This unseen wisdom reminds us to stay mindful, hopeful, and careful in our actions.
