Honey Benefit Cure for Diarrhea -Instant Sunnah Remedy for Stomach Pain That Even Doctors Accept!

Updated: Nov 1

Ever heard a soft buzz near your ears? Like nature’s tiny hum, whispering secrets just for you. Sometimes these very irritating insects carry a lot more blessings than you think.

"And your Lord inspired the bee: 'Make your homes in the mountains, in the trees, and in the structures [people build]. Then feed from every kind of fruit and follow the ways your Lord has made easy for you.' From its belly comes a drink of varying colors, in which there is healing for people. Surely, in this is a sign for those who reflect."

(16:68-69) Surah An-Nahl

From the Doctor's Clinic to the Honey Jar: My Sweet Journey to Natural Healing with Hadith!

A few days ago, I was feeling a bit unwell. The sudden change in weather due to the rain had an impact, both internally and externally (Referring to the shifting temperament caused by the changing climate). When the discomfort persisted, I had no choice but to visit the doctor.

The clinic was crowded with patients, and as I waited for my turn, I noticed that most of them were suffering from stomach pain; some had diarrhea, others were troubled by indigestion.

One person complained of heartburn, while another was restless due to gas.

As I observed my surroundings, an elderly woman sat beside me. She had accompanied a patient and spoke with such grace and wisdom that her understanding of faith was evident. Her words touched my heart. During our conversation, she took a deep breath and said, "Umm-e- Sidrah, do you know why we fall sick so often these days? It’s because we’ve abandoned trust in Allah (tawakkul) and weakened our connection with knowledge. We’ve become unaware of the Prophetic medicine (Tibb-e-Nabawi)."

Is diarrhea a new disease? Did it not exist in the past? If it did, how was it treated back then? The Mercy to the Worlds, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, had already guided us in this matter. Honey is a cure for stomach ailments according to Tibb-e-Nabawi.

The hadith she shared illuminated my heart. For my spiritual comfort, she also mentioned the book and author so I could read it myself. When I searched at home, I found opinions from many reputable scholars.

The Blessed Hadith: Narrated by Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri (رضی اللہ عنہ):

A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said,

"My brother is suffering from stomach pain (or diarrhea)."

The Prophet ﷺ said,

"Give him honey."

The man left but returned later and said,

"O Messenger of Allah! I gave him honey, but his pain increased!"

The Prophet ﷺ repeated the advice three times, and each time the man returned with the same complaint. On the fourth time, the Prophet ﷺ said:

"Allah is truthful, and your brother’s stomach is lying. Give him honey again." So, he gave him honey once more, and this time, he was completely cured.

(Sahih Bukhari, Book of Medicine, Hadith 5684)

  3. Trust in Allah’s provisions—as the Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah is truthful."

Modern Science & Quranic Insights on Honey’s Benefits:

Honey was one of the beloved foods of our Prophet ﷺ. Its benefits are astounding—it has been used as medicine for centuries. (Sunan Ibn Majah, 4/95, Hadith 3452)

 (Ibn Majah, 4/94, Hadith 3450)

Conclusion:

And finally, do not doubt to seek treatment, for faith is victory, and trust in Allah is salvation. This truth is stated clearly in the Noble Quran, the Criterion (Al-Furqan), the Praiseworthy (Al-Hameed):

فِيهِ شِفَاءٌ لِّلنَّاسِ
'Therein is healing for mankind.'

Surah An-Nahl (16:69)

So hold firm to belief, rely on Allah, but also take practical steps—for healing lies in both divine trust and worldly means.

May Allah grant you strength and cure. Ameen.
