Every year, on October 31st, the Western world celebrates Halloween Night, a festival filled with masks, costumes, and spooky decorations. They carve pumpkin into scary faces to use them as decoration, treating it as a fun time with family and friends.
But few know that it began from an ancient pagan ritual called Samhain,
where people believed that on this night, the souls of the dead returned to earth.
“And the doorway between the world of the dead and the world of the living opens".
To protect themselves, they wore strange masks, lit fires, and performed magical rituals,
hoping to scare away the spirits. Over time, this belief turned into what we now know as Halloween.
Halloween is deeply rooted in superstition, believing in things that have no real truth or evidence. Such as:
The souls of the dead return to visit the living.
Wearing scary masks keeps evil spirits away.
Dressing like ghosts or witches connects you with the spirit world.
Casting spells or using “magic” can chase away bad energy or demons.
But in reality, these are nothing more than illusions and fears wrapped in excitement.
The Illusion of Celebration: A Modern Betrayal of Faith

In today’s world, where almost everyone is connected to social media, religious awareness has slowly faded. People crave views, likes, and money even if it means selling their own soul. Just like Sara, who traded her purity for fame, many Muslims have started celebrating festivals that have nothing to do with Islam claiming, “It’s just for fun, what’s the harm?”
But this “fun” is not innocent. It’s blind imitation, a sale of faith for a few moments of attention.
When a believer joins the celebrations of those who reject Allah, especially those that include pagan rituals, superstitious beliefs, or words of disbelief it’s not a harmless act.
It’s a spiritual disaster in disguise.
Islam warns us clearly:
"O you who believe! Do not take the Jews and the Christians as your friends and allies. They are allies of one another. And whoever among you takes them as friends, then surely he is one of them. Indeed, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people."
(Surah Al‑Ma'idah, verse 5:51 Kanz ul Irfan)
What Happens to Those Who Imitate Another Nation?

Imitating Non-Muslims:
Be honest,
In today’s world, the line between faith and fashion is fading away. Everything has become a trend, a video, a moment for views.
No one stops to ask anymore
“Whose day is this? What belief is it tied to?”
They just say:
“It’s just for fun; it’s our day too!”
But the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said clearly:
Ibn ’Umar (RAA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said “He who imitates any people (in their actions) is considered to be one of them.”
(Narrated by Abu Dawood (4031)
This hadith shakes the soul. Because if we proudly adopt the dress, behavior, or celebrations of those who are Non Muslims or Disbelievers, then we are not walking in the light of faith. We are walking blindly, following shadows.
Islam does not only command; it teaches with love. It reminds us that our identity is not in imitation; it is in the color of Allah.
“Our mark is not what others wear; it is the light that Allah places within us.”
Following Other's Religious Customs
Think about it;
When a nation forgets the knowledge brought by its Prophet, Allah’s mercy no longer descends upon them.
Islam is not against joy, never. It only asks that our happiness be pure, that our celebrations please the Creator, not His enemies. It calls us to remember who we truly are. Our Souls created to reflect divine light, not worldly fads.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“You will surely follow the ways of those before you, hand span by hand span, arm’s length by arm’s length even if they enter a lizard’s hole, you will follow them. "They asked, “O Messenger of Allah, (do you mean) the Jews and the Christians? He said, “Who else?”
(Bukhari 7320, Muslim 2669)
The truth is simple:
A true believer, one who holds La ilaha ill Allah in their heart, does not follow Ignorance blindly. They are not afraid of what people will say
“Too strict,” “too old-fashioned,” “too religious.”
They only ask:
“What does Allah and His Messenger ﷺ say?”
Qur’anic Warning:
“Above them will be layers of fire, and beneath them layers as well. This is how Allah warns His servants: O My servants, fear Me.”
(Surah Az-Zumar 39:16)
This verse is a divine reminder. Those who abandon guidance and lose themselves in false customs will meet a terrifying end in the depths of Hellfire.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The fire of Hell is seventy times more intense than the fire of this world.”
This is the fate of those who knowingly trade faith for imitation, who chase superstition and fashion while ignoring the command of their Lord.
Avoiding Superstitions and False Beliefs
The greatest deception of Halloween is not the costumes or the masks; it is the illusion that it’s “just fun.”
In reality, it is built on superstition, fear of spirits, and pagan rituals, a trap that slowly disconnects hearts from truth.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“There is no such thing as bad omen, but I like good omens. "The companions asked, “What is a good omen? He replied, “A positive word that one of you hears.”
(Sahih Muslim 2224)
Superstition is one of the tricks of Halloween 2025, and this festival like other celebrations that originate from non-Islamic traditions is not permissible in Islam; it is considered haram. Islam does not teach fear or superstition. It teaches optimism, hope, and complete trust in Allah.
Narrated Abdullah ibn Mas'ud:
"The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Taking omens(Bad Luck) is polytheism; taking omens is polytheism." He said it three times. "Every one of us has some, but Allah removes it by trust (in Him)".
(Sunan Abi Dawud 3910)
In Islam, all these practices fear of ghosts, belief in spirits returning, or magical rituals are baseless and forbidden.
